Grassroots is a family-owned and operated business that was established in 1968. In 1986 Marla and Meir Puni purchased their modest 1,500 square foot store, in a quaint shopping mall, in South Pasadena, California. In the early days, the restaurant offered soups, sandwiches, salads, frozen yogurt and their (ever popular) signature apple walnut muffins. The vitamin and grocery departments started small but were well suited for the health conscious consumer. Today, this homegrown family business, is bustling with positive vibes and great people.The past 35 years has brought about many changes for Grassroots Natural Market & Kitchen. Over the years the store itself has undergone three complete remodels, which doubled its size and staff. The company has integrated more and more sustainable practices within their operation as well.
